IMPAIRMENT ASSESSMENT FOR WDDA CLASSIC DIVISION
Eligible players with the following impairments will be permitted to compete in the WDDA Classic Division of Compris after an assessment from a registered medical practitioner.
IMPARED MUSCLE POWER- Reduced force generated by muscle groups occurring in the arms or lower half of the body caused by spinal injury, spina bifida or poliomyelitis.
ATHETOSIS- Unbalance or uncontrolled movement, difficulty in maintaining a symmetrical posture due to cerebral palsy, brain injury, multiple sclerosis or conditions such as severe vertigo where eye, hand and balance co-ordination is affected.
IMPAIRED PASSIVE RANGE OF MOVEMENT- Range of movement in one or more joints permanently- shoulder “rotator cuff “or spinal arthritis are now included in this category.
HYPERTONIA- Abnormal increase in muscle tension, reduced ability of muscles to stretch either by permanent injury, illness or health conditions such as cerebral palsy.
LIMB DEFICIENCY- Total or partial missing bones or joints, from birth or by trauma resulting in amputation or illness such as bone cancer. Player eligibility is by loss of limb. A minimum of big toe or thumb affecting balance or throwing.
ATAXIA- Lack of muscle co-ordination in movement. See (1. IMP, 2. Athetosis).
LEG LEGNTH DIFFERENCE- Bone shortening through life or trauma, leg difference should be 5cm or greater.
SHORT STATURE- Reduced standing height through life such as achondroplasia or growth hormone dysfunction. Eligible height not greater than 4ft.6” = 1.4m.
